What food should you feed your baby hamsters? When can I feed them broccoli? Because that will be too cute if they do the feet thing. Here are what baby hamsters should be eating while they are growing...
First 10 days:
In this earliest days of baby hamsters' life, they will get all the nutrition they need from mother's milk. So make sure you give mother hamster plenty of food and water, and also provide extra protein such as a little milk or a bit of cooked egg.
10 - 14 days:
To supplement the milk, you can start offering soft foods, like breads, cooked or grated vegetables, or fresh fruits to baby hamsters.
After 2 weeks:
The baby hamsters will start sampling the regular hamster mix. It's perfectly alright for the babies to sample a little of everything that mother eats at this period.
By 4 weeks:
The babies should be weaned from mother's milk and be eating normal hamster food and treats. Keep an eye on how much water your babies drink, they should be drinking plenty of water from the bottle.

ReplyDeleteHeyzz!!! My name's haley and I'm 14... here's some advice on hamster pregnancy... :)
ReplyDeletemy hamster is pregnant and I gave her a couple tissues to make a soft nest, and she did! You're not supposed to disturb them when they're pregnant, so try not to hold them as much as possible. When she has her liter seperate the father from the mom and the babies. He will most likely either get her pregnent again (which will be to hard on her body and might put the babies in danger) or he will eat the babies. Cooked egg gives them protein, so before she goes into labor give her a little bit of it. :) After the prgnancy, don't hold the babies, you'll just give them your sent and that wouldn't be good. If there is a need to move one, use a metal spoon, the mom will likely move it back after, so there is really no point. :) Hope that helped!!!
well I wanted to know what type of egg do you feed them? boiled or whatever? and how do you know the female is pregnant?
ReplyDeleteHELP ME PLEASE
Yeah, hard boiled egg.
ReplyDeletewhat should you feed them if they already have the sent and/or how long do i keep her seperated from the babies. because she tried eating one already nd she was stepping all over them
ReplyDeletehelp me now please
Can hampsters eat grapes??
ReplyDeleteHi sadie, if your hamster babies are already 3-4 weeks old, they can be separated from their mum and feeding on normal hamster mix.
ReplyDeleteOliviamaddie17, hamsters can eat grapes but not grape seeds.

ReplyDeleteehdhoi, I think you better separate the babies if they can feed on hamster mix already.

ReplyDeleteHi all I have a hamster that gave birth to 10 newly born one of them born dead so i removed him from the cage then after 6 days i actually cleaned the cage and after a couple of days and put the male hamster cage infront of the other cage for the women not to feel lonely the next day i found the mother eating one of the kids so I spearated her immediattly in the male cage and then she fought with the mail and after couple of hours I found that she is trying to break the cage to get back to her 6 days old left alive hamsters, what can i do shall i return her back or will she keep eating the young ones and if i didn't return her what can i feed the hamsters now they are only 6 days old
ReplyDeletesneha , its better to buy a single Hamster first. beacuse If You Buy a pair , and 2 of them died what u would u do? So , first buy a single Hamster.
ReplyDeleteto everyone got their babies hamsters being eaten by it mum it because :
ReplyDelete- the babies got scent from u so do not touch the babies
- the babies dead so the mum eat those
- the mum got stresses ( this is mostly happen, so try this way wrap around the cage with paper towel etc put it some place without much noise and don't watch to close or touch the babies or the mom , leave foods in quietly try not hit the cage to hard)
when hamster give birth you should separate the male and the female one because some hamster father will kill the babies and the male will distract the female so it wont take care of it kids
ReplyDeleteyou can place small mix foods on the ground so the babies hamster will try to eat when they 2-3weeks old
after the female hamster give birth you have to give it 1month rest at least so keep her alone in some other cage , if u put the female back to the male after separate her from the babies the male will try have sex with her again but she still weak so she may die
People you need to stop getting into breeding hammies without knowing what youre doing! Do your research! Consider the fact that you will have a huge bunch of grown hamsters if you are successful. Think about the health of the hammies not just how cute they'll be. They sure won't be cute if they're dead...
ReplyDeleteBrianna... not everyone is TRYING to breed hammies... I bought my single baby dwarf hamster from the pet store and 2 weeks later, surprise, surprise, surprise... 4 babies and a VERY young mother were in the cage. Just trying to figure out how to best care for them all until they are old enough to be given away.
ReplyDeleteI have a little Gray Russian hamster and it seems that it does not eat much...what can the issue be...i feed it Hazel Hamster Nutrition Food and i think that the veggies and seeds there are too hard for the hamster its not that young its couple of months old...when i first bought my little hammie it was not feeding on its mother it was eating mix food...but after the new food i bought Hazel hamster Nutrition Food i don't see it eating it...i do give it some other food such as sunflower seeds, nus, carrots, broccoli, apple, cabbage, lettuce, and almond...What else i can feed my Little couple of months old hammie Russian Gray Hamster!!!!

ReplyDeleteI Have a hamster that is a female and i want to breed it with my friends hamster which is also a female is that possible ?? and will they breed together??? If they do then which one would have the babies??
ReplyDeleteMy hamster first gave birth to 9 babies. I separated the male and never touched or got near to the babies. However all died naturally or got eaten by the mum. The second time, another 8 was born. Same thing happened, one after another babies were devoured by the mum. Until 3 babies were left, i used an advice of a traditional method (same method used for some type of chicken as well as cats to stop feeding of babies) of placing a slice of brinjal in the cage, and miraculously the feeding stopped. The mum eats hamster food like normal and the brinjal but not the babies. Now the three babies are two weeks old and healthy. Do give it a try and let me know the outcome.
