According to Wikipedia.
Recently, a mutation has arisen producing a "husky", also known as "white-faced", phase. Breeding these lines with agouti Roborovskis produces a diluted appearance of their natural brown colour.
I have never seen this type of Roborovski before. Akagami, we have a challenger here.
Some Facts About Roborovski Hamster (No matter what color is the face)
- Roborovski are the smallest and fastest of all hamster breeds which are commonly kept as pets.
- In the wild, Roborovski hamsters live around the Gobi Desert, throughout Mongolia and parts of northern China.
- Roborovski are very curious hamsters, they are easily startled, generally timid, and harder to tame than other hamster breeds. Thus, they are less suitable as a pet for young children.
- Roborovski hamsters have a very good temperament and rarely bite. They are more social and affectionate with each other, they can stay together peacefully in one cage if housed together from an early age.

ReplyDeleteI have a white faced robo too that talks (indignantly squeaks) to me. She love eating out of my hand and easily can be herded as long as you don't try to pick her up. Then she can circle the entire house in a matter of seconds. So fast.

ReplyDeleteI have 1 roboviski hamster. HER name is SNICKERS because he is the colors of snickers. It is sooo true that they are the fastest hamsters even because she runs soo fast, in fact...... she has ran away 2 times. but i caught her. i live in wisconsin and it is freezing in a basement, also the basement has tiny holes. so she might find one and get in it. but i have to admit she is so cute I can barely resist holding her.
